For this song, I had an image in my head of a soldier going out on a night mission that he does’t expect to come back from. It was somewhere in a jungle – maybe an American soldier in Vietnam?
Well, it was in my head, so I’m sure it’s a symbol of some psychological battle going on inside me. Feel free to share any and all analyses.

Catch me on the all-night trail
Catch me on the all-night trail tonight
We are heading out to kill
Leave you on the window sill, so whiteThe jungle’s quieter than death
The jungle’s quieter than death’s door
I hear a footstep here or there
My eyes adjust, I try to stare some moreThe moon, it isn’t coming out tonight
So everybody better hold on tightIn the holy darkness here, so clear
I’m safe, and I am still alive for now
Out on the frontierI never see the other guy
I never see the other guy’s face
A noise or maybe just a sense
Going on the offense, just in caseWe are all here dead tonight
We are all here dead tonight, boys
A plastic cover on your clothes
Down to your toes, don’t wanna make no noiseThe moon, it isn’t coming out tonight
So everybody better hold on tightIn the holy darkness here, so clear
I’m safe, and I am still alive for now
Out on the frontierCatch me on the all-night trail
Catch me on the all-night trail tonight
